This special is sold as straight run, which means the chicks are not sexed and may include both males and females.

Cackle Hatchery® selects the rare breed chicks for this assortment. Customers do not choose the breeds or colors included.

Cackle Hatchery® does not tell customers which color, type, or breed was sent and does not keep records of which breeds are included in each order.

Backyard and Flock Use

The Rare Chick Special works well for customers who want to add variety and interest to a backyard flock, homestead, or hobby poultry project. Since rare breeds can vary in size, temperament, egg production, and appearance, this assortment is best for customers who enjoy watching different breeds grow and develop.

This special is a good fit for customers who want:

Rare breed chicks
A straight run assortment
A hatchery-choice surprise
A colorful and varied flock
Possible ornamental or utility breeds
A fun backyard poultry project

Customers who need a specific breed, sex, egg color, or feather color should order individual breed listings instead.

Care and Brooder Tips

Rare Chick Special chicks need the same basic care as other baby chicks. Before they arrive, prepare a warm brooder with clean bedding, fresh water, chick starter feed, and safe feeders and waterers.

As the chicks grow, provide enough space, predator-resistant housing, proper nutrition, and roosting room based on the size and type of birds included.
